When the Seal is Broken!

Have you ever noticed what happens to the substance inside of any container when the original seal is broken?

For example, a 2-liter bottle of soda pop will fizz up to bursting when the cap is first twisted off. If you don’t twist the cap off very slowly, you’re likely to get soaked with a spray of pop. But you’ll notice that as the days go by, the pop will fizz less and less when you open the bottle until finally it has gone stale and flat and is no longer good to drink.

The same can be said for relationships of any kind, whether professional or personal. In the beginning, the experience of building the relationship is filled with enthusiasm, energy, collaboration, and a high degree of mutual trust. Why? Because the “seal” of a relationship is that trust! But what happens when the “seal” of trust is broken? Over time, the relationship grows less enthusiastic, with less energy and collaboration, until finally its grown flat and stale.

In today’s chaotic, economic environment, we’ve seen the seal of trust broken in both the marketplace and the home. One is not exclusive of the other. In fact, more often than not, we’ve seen families destroyed more by what has happened in the marketplace, which has then rippled over into the home.

Even the strongest of us are vulnerable to having the seal broken or to breaking the seal ourselves. When that happens, we’re at risk of losing either that which sustains us materially, that which we love the most, or both. It takes a great deal of perseverance, absolute faith, and tremendous character to protect that seal of trust against any challenge that might come against it.

Until the next post, Safe Journeys!
